Local people hold Bridge and Dashauhar lakes very sacred and religious and the devotees of Shiva and Parvati undertake an annual pilgrimage to these lakes for a holy dip. In the past people used to trek to these lakes only by foot when the roads where narrow and not so good and boarding a bus or a taxi was a bit risky and unsafe.
Day to day description:
Day 01: Manali to Dhundi (2840m.), via Solang Nallan which is a beautiful ski spot. Dundi is a place from where a tunnel and road is being created to shorten the distances to Lahaul valley to avoid crossing over Rohtang Pass (3979m.).
Day 02: Dhunid - Beas Kund (3690m.), gradual walk for 7-8 hours. The trek passes along the Beas nullah with a moderate climb up to 3km. crossing over to many rivulets and then steeply ascends to a ridge below the Bakarthatch making it though and taxing for about 2km. There is a dense forest of Bhojpatra here and some very rare species of herbal planets are also found. This place offers magnificent views of the peaks on all sides. From here it is about 8km. to Beas Kund, on the way you will see some nice crevasses of different sizes, moraines, scree, bergschrund and glaciers.
Day 03: Beas Kund - Shagara Dugh (3600m.), descending walk for 4-5 hours. In the morning you will walk up to Dhundi on the same trek along the left side of Beas nullah. From Dhundi the trek weaves through a very dense forest of mixed variety after crossing Seri Nullah over fallen trees bridging the stream and enters Gumeri reserved forest. There are scattered hutments of the shepherds and a beautiful artificial rock climbing area.Shagra Dugh presents the finest views of the snow-clad mountains.
Day 04: Shagra Dugh - Dashauhar Lake (4200km.), walk for 4-5 hours. In the beginning the route passes through a forest of a few kilometers and then crosses over a small pass of 4000m. and get into Shela Galu nullah where one can see remnant pieces of dying glacier and following the route upstream among the alpine plateau where hutments of shepherds are seen. From here one reaches to another pass (3988m.) from where Dashauhar Lake is approached.
Day 05: Dashauhar - Bhrigu Lake (4240m.), walk for 4-5 hours. It takes about 2 hours from Shela Sar to reach at Rohtang Pass, the Gateway to Lahaul valley. From Rohtang Pass you will move towards southeast and follow traditional route of Shepherds to reach at Bhrigu Lake. The views towareds Manaliand Kullu with the Beas River meandering in between the valley compels one to rest a little and behold the scenic grandeur and capture the moments in camera. The whole valley looks yellow and green.
Day 06: Brigu Lake - Pandu Ropa (3600m.). There is a steep descent of at least 3km till you enter in the thickly forested area. There are meadows and pasturelands where shepherds are seen with the flocks of sheep and goats in almost 8 months in a year. Herbal plants are in abundance in this area.
Day 07: Departure from Manali back to Delhi.
